Makeda Lewis, a lifelong resident of New Rochelle, has a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing the public education system in her community. Having attended elementary, middle, and high school in New Rochelle, Makeda is passionate about promoting excellence in education for all students.

With a master's degree in Higher & Postsecondary Education Administration from Teachers College, Columbia University, Makeda has dedicated her career to supporting students and families and implementing data-driven solutions for school leaders. Her experience working within a large school system has equipped her with the skills and knowledge to navigate bureaucracy and drive meaningful change.

Makeda's guiding principle is to promote excellence and opportunity for all students by setting high standards and collaborating with stakeholders across the education system. She cares deeply about the well-being of every member of the school community, from students and families to administrators, custodians, librarians, and cafeteria staff.

Makeda is excited to give back to the community that shaped her and to serve on the Board of Education, where she can leverage her expertise to create a better future for all New Rochelle students.
